Our 25th Anniversary Year
There is a line in a song I grew up singing in church. The line goes
“Time is filled with swift transitions, naught of earth unmoved can stand…”
Which essentially means that none of us can control the way in which time moves us ever forward, whether we’re ready or not.
I don’t know about you but 2024 has been a fast-moving train and here we are nearly in the middle of the second month where we celebrate Black History and plan birthday celebrations for all the leap year babies born February 29th.
As we step into 2024, Diversity Richmond is thrilled to embark on a significant journey – our 25th anniversary year!!!
Over the past quarter-century, we have evolved into a powerful force for change, connecting people, partners, and programs to enhance the lives of LGBTQ+ community members and create a more inclusive Greater Richmond region. We stand as a testament to the incredible journey we have undertaken together – a journey marked by resilience, empowerment, and a steadfast commitment to LGBTQ+ acceptance.
Our anniversary year is not merely a celebration of time passed; rather, it is a reflection of the collective achievements, milestones, and transformative impact we have achieved as a community. As we embark on this momentous occasion, we invite you to join us in commemorating not only the years that have shaped us but also the vision that propels us forward.
Here are 3 ways you can participate in this year-long celebration:
• Apply to be a member of the 25th Anniversary Advisory Committee. Click here for the form. We will select 3-5 community members to work with us to plan events throughout the year.
• Share your story with us. Have you been positively impacted by Diversity Richmond? We want to hear from you. Email us at info@diversityrichmond.org with stories, pictures and testimonials, highlighting the diverse experiences within our community. We will feature them in our newsletter and social media.
• Sign up to be a monthly donor. Did you know that a $25 donation supports a clothing voucher to individuals rebuilding their life? You can sign up to be a monthly donor that supports the transformative work we do enhancing the lives of LGBTQ+ community members.
