Since its inception, Diversity Richmond has distributed more than $850,000 to area non-profit organizations.

Emergency Assistance

  • Immediate Support: Provides resources such as food, and emergency financial assistance to individuals and families in crisis.

Access to Comprehensive Support

  • Life Skills Programs: Educational workshops on financial literacy, job readiness, and personal development.

  • Wellness Programs: Focus on mental health, physical wellness, and emotional well-being, including counseling and support groups.

  • Health Resources: Partnerships with local health providers to offer access to healthcare services, including preventive care and treatment.

  • Social Programs: Community-building opportunities through social events, cultural activities, and peer-support networks.

Holistic Approach

  • Combines direct care (emergency assistance, housing aid, healthcare access) with indirect care (education, skills training, connection to social resources) to meet the complex needs of the community.

Diversity Richmond plays a pivotal role in supporting the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized populations in the Richmond area. Their services address immediate challenges such as economic inequality, health disparities, and the effects of discrimination. Programs include a clothing voucher program, financial stabilizer, and community resource guide.

Life Skills Enhancement

Workshops designed to equip individuals with practical tools and knowledge to boost confidence, enhance communication, increase financial literacy, and improve overall personal well-being.

INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCES

Virginia Pride

Producing dozens of events annually celebrating the Richmond region’s LGBTQ community, including the largest festival in the Commonwealth, attracting more than 50,000 people. Virginia Pride also provides grants, sponsorships, and scholarships to support LGBTQ people, organizations, and allies.

ART THAT MATTERS

Iridian Gallery

Fostering lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ artists and their community by exhibiting their art, as well as work relating to their experiences. The gallery is a vital constituent of Greater Richmond’s vibrant arts culture.

Partnership.

In addition to supporting our community financially, Diversity Richmond is a collaborator, convening groups with similar aspirations to effect social change and encourage acceptance. Some of our programs have served as catalysts for the creation of other organizations, such as the Richmond Business Alliance and we partner with national entities to create locally-focused resources.

BLACK RECOGNITION

Black and Bold

A grassroots effort to offer the RVA community an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate bold Black LGBTQ individuals. This recognition is critical to creating more awareness about the contributions of Black LGBTQ persons in the Richmond community.
