ED Holiday Year End Reflections

Can you hear that?  Stop. Listen.  Do you hear what I hear?

The sounds of laughter and prayers. The kind words and concerned expressions. The hustle and bustle of shopping and gathering along with the crackling of fireplaces (both real and virtual). Not to mention the beautiful music of the season that, try as I might, I cannot resist humming along with.

As the holiday season fills the air with warmth and cheer, I am excited to extend my heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you on behalf of the Diversity Richmond Board, Staff and Pride Planning Committee. This time of year is a celebration of love, acceptance, and togetherness, and we are thrilled to be part of a community that embodies these sentiments.

In the coming days that will surely be a blur please take a moment to reflect on some of the amazing ways your support has helped us…

  • Provide over $20,000 in emergency financial support to LGBTQ+ community members

  • Give over 500 clothing vouchers valued at $25 each for people rebuilding their lives

  • Host community events that gathered over 1,000 people in our event hall

  • Celebrate Pridefest 2023 in a new venue

  • Collect 474 responses to our strategic planning survey

  • Vote Diversity Thrift one of Richmond’s favorite things (for yet another year)

These ways and so many more have captured my heart and spirit in unspeakable ways.  It continues to be my honor to lead this amazing organization and be in a community with beautiful souls like yourselves.

May your days be merry and bright, filled with the warmth of friendship and the magic of acceptance. And let us continue to relish in the sense of connection with Diversity Richmond as the hub of the LGBTQ+ community.

With love and celebration!
