August Reflections
As we step into August, a month synonymous with warmth and vibrant energy, I can feel the good vibes all around, can you?
During these hot hot summer days I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared so far this year. This month is a time of transitions—whether it's the anticipation of a new school year, the winding down of summer adventures, or the preparation for the upcoming fall season. Here at Diversity Richmond, we embrace these transitions as opportunities to strengthen our connections and deepen our impact.
Recently we were able to experience the transition of books purchased from Diversity Thrift to the stunning creative decor of Harry’s at Hofheimer. All of the books you see in there are from Richmond’s beloved thrift store. The photo in the banner is James Millner (VA Pride Director), Cheezi Farmer (Diversity board/UGRC-Black Pride RVA), myself along with Natalie McNamara (Director of Operations/Managing Partner) and Will Ares (Harry’s Manager) posing in the Library at Harry’s. Read more here about the inspiration behind the book theme and why they chose Diversity Thrift.
August also brings us an End of Summer Party with our partner UGRC/Black Pride RVA and weeks closer to our annual Pridefest happening September 14th at the Bon Secours Training Center.
In honor of our 25th anniversary, this year’s Diversity Celebrates event on November 13th will be a celebration of our collective achievements and an opportunity to reflect and reimagine the future of Diversity Richmond 25 more years and beyond. Your participation and support will help ensure we continue to be a catalyst for change, a voice for the community, a place welcome to all, and a resource for those in need.
As we bask in the warmth of these summer days, let’s remember to take care of ourselves and each other. Our strength lies in our unity, and together, we can continue to create a more inclusive and vibrant community for everyone.
We cannot continue doing the amazing work of Diversity Richmond without generous donations from our supporters. We’re asking for 25 people to become a monthly giver at a level comfortable for you. To sweeten the ask, we have some swag to offer. Choose a level below, sign up here at your preferred monthly amount and we’ll mail you your gift for saying YES to giving to us.
