April Reflections

Spring reminds us that growth happens even in challenging conditions. As the world shifts around us, our community continues to bloom where we are planted—rooted in resilience, watered by care, and reaching for a future where we all thrive.

With each new season, we are reminded that growth isn’t just about flourishing in the sunshine—it’s about standing firm through the storms. Right now, the world feels heavy. Attacks on our community, political setbacks, and uncertainty can shake even the strongest among us. And yet, we remain. We take root in our purpose, in our history, in each other.

At Diversity Richmond, we are not just weathering the storm—we are cultivating something powerful. We are a space where our community can gather, find support, and build resilience. One way we did that was through our partnership with Trans RVA and Carmen the Momba to offer transgender self-defense classes. These sessions were more than just learning skills—they were about reclaiming strength, building confidence, and fostering community. They served as a reminder that together, we are stronger.

And strength isn’t just physical. It’s in the knowledge we share, the connections we build, and the trust we cultivate. That’s why we also serve as a trusted resource, offering relevant news updates to keep our community informed—without the overwhelm. In a time when information can feel like too much, we ensure that what we share is timely, accurate, and rooted in care.

We invite you to stand with us, to stay engaged, and to take action:

Wherever you are in your journey, know this—you belong here. You are part of something vibrant, something strong. Let’s bloom together.

In solidarity,

Lacette Cross
