Black and Bold 2.0

Black and Bold began as a way to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of Black LGBTQ+ leaders in Greater Richmond and across the Commonwealth. Black and Bold blossomed into a rewards program that attracted area leaders and community members every February. Black and Bold was a transformative program that helped Diversity Richmond begin to deepen the community conversations around race and identity within our region.

As time changes we find ourselves facing another opportunity to deepen the work begun by Rodney Lofton in 2017 with the introduction of Black and Bold. This year as part of our 25th anniversary we are deepening our commitment to Black LGBTQ+ leaders by presenting Black and Bold 2.0.

Black and Bold 2.0 is an effort to build on the foundation of honoring Black LGBTQ+ leaders and influencers by curating a collection of events to foster connection, strengthen a strong peer network and build leadership skills for Black LGBTQ+ individuals in the Greater Richmond area.

We will kickoff Black and Bold 2.0 with a webinar on February 20th, entitled “Deepening the Roots: Advancing Black Queer Leadership in Greater Richmond”. After the webinar we will host quarterly events to build upon the momentum sparked by the webinar.

Save the date for the following:

  • Black and Bold 2.0 Brunch, April 28th

  • Black and Bold 2.0 Cookout, August 24th

  • Black and Bold 2.0 Leadership Summit, Nov 9th

Stay tuned for further information on Black and Bold 2.0 and the ways you can support, get involved and amplify this necessary programming.
